3 Ways to Save on Your Printer

Printers are one of the essential parts of any office establishment and as cheap compact printers arrived, they made their ways to homes too. The cost of printing came down a lot as technology advanced, but is still high enough that people always want to know ways to save more with your printer. Let’s look at ways that we feel would help you:

  1. Invest on a costlier printer

You must be wondering why I am telling you to spend more money on an article that is supposed to save money. The truth is, as the printer’s cost increases, per page cost and toner cost decreases. Thus if you buy a costlier printer now, you will save a lot of money in the future. If you buy a cheap printer, you will end up spending more money to buy toner cartridges, even if you decide to save money by buying remanufactured cartridges. When you look at the long term, buying a costlier printer will be more cost-effective.Image result for 3 Ways to Save on Your Printer
  2. Get remanufactured cartridges

Going to buy toner cartridges? Consider buying remanufactured cartridges. They are both cost-effective and eco-friendly. Let me explain how it works.  Remanufactured cartridges are basically old recycled, refurbished toner cartridges. When a cartridge gets run out of ink, they are collected by companies that produce these remanufactured cartridges. The cartridges are thoroughly inspected and are repaired if there is a need for it. The companies then fill the cartridges with high quality toner and are then sold at a cheap price.  Why do we recommend buying remanufactured toner cartridges? Because it is very cheap compared to the OEM cartridges. These will be 15-50% cheaper than buying a branded one. Moreover, these cartridges are filled to capacity with toner, whereas OEMs only fill their cartridges to a certain limit to maximize profits.  Another reason is that this is eco-friendly, a lot of parts and chemicals are needed to make a cartridge from start. Recycling these is a very good step to save the environment. You will see many articles condemning remanufactured cartridges. Those are mostly written by the OEM toner companies since they make a lot of money selling toner, even more than what they make from selling printers.
  3. Properly turn off printer

Make sure you turn off your printer properly, the way you are instructed to by the manufacturer. You are supposed to press the ON/OFF switch once you are done the printing. Never turn it OFF via the power source. The ON/OFF switch triggers a process where the printer moves the cartridges to a safe location which protects the ink from drying up, which doesn’t happen when you pull the power cord.  Also keep in mind that, every time you turn ON and OFF an inkjet printer, a cleaning process happens that wastes a small amount of ink. So turn it off only when you are done with the job.

In this post, we have discussed three effective methods to save money with your printer. Among the list, my personal favourite is to buy remanufactured toner cartridges, as it helps to save money and the environment at the same time. We hope sure hope these tips helped you.
